New Patient Appointments
If you are seeing Dr Scott Tulloch for the first time, you will need a valid referral from your GP or another medical specialist. A GP referral is typically valid for 12 months, while a specialist referral is usually valid for 3 months from the date of issue. Having a referral allows you to access a Medicare rebate and provides important background information about your condition.
To assist with your assessment, please bring:
- Your referral letter from your GP or specialist
- Any imaging related to your condition, such as X-rays, MRI scans, CT scans or ultrasounds, along with the radiology reports. These can often be accessed electronically by the rooms, but it is helpful to bring copies or discs if available
- A list of your current medications and any relevant medical history
- Your Medicare card and private health insurance details (if applicable)
- Information about any previous surgery or treatment for the same condition
- A completed New Patient Form (if provided prior to your appointment)
- Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area being examined
Your consultation with Dr Scott Tulloch
Your appointment will include:
- 1. Discussion of your symptoms – including when they started, how they have progressed, and how they affect your daily activities or sport.
- 2. Review of your imaging and test results – your scans will be explained in relation to your condition.
- 3. Physical examination – assessing movement, strength and function.
- 4. Diagnosis and treatment options – clear information about your condition and appropriate treatment pathways, including both surgical and non-surgical options.
- 5. Next steps – outlining a plan moving forward, which may include physiotherapy, further investigations or consideration of surgery.
Preparing for your appointment
To help you get the most from your consultation, you may wish to:
- Write down any questions you would like to discuss
- Bring a support person if you would like assistance with taking notes or remembering information
- Be open about your symptoms, activity levels and goals so your care can be tailored to your individual needs
Rural, Interstate & Telehealth Appointments
Rural, interstate and telehealth appointments provide a flexible way to access care if you are unable to attend the clinic in person. Telehealth consultations are conducted via secure video and allow you to discuss your symptoms, review your medical history, and explore both surgical and non-surgical treatment options. These appointments may be used for initial discussions, follow-up care, and coordination of investigations such as imaging or blood tests in your local area. In some cases, an in-person consultation may still be recommended, particularly if a physical examination or surgical planning is required.
Preparing for your appointment
To help your consultation run smoothly, you may wish to:
- Ensure you have a stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone
- Choose a quiet, private space
- Have your referral, imaging and relevant medical information available
- Write down any questions you would like to discuss
- Wear comfortable clothing if movement or assessment is required
What to expect
Your appointment will involve a discussion of your symptoms and medical history, review of any imaging, and clear guidance on the next steps in your care. Where needed, further tests, referrals or in-person review will be arranged.
Medicare rebates may be available with a valid referral. Our team can assist with booking your appointment and provide instructions for accessing the telehealth platform.
Returning patient appointments
If you are returning to see Dr Scott Tulloch for a follow-up or review, please bring any updated information relevant to your condition, including:
- New imaging or test results since your last appointment
- Updates from your physiotherapist or GP if you are undergoing ongoing care
- Any changes in your symptoms, medications or general health
Please note, you may require a new referral if your previous one has expired. GP referrals are typically valid for 12 months, while specialist referrals are valid for 3 months. A current referral is required to access a Medicare rebate.
If you need to reschedule
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please contact the rooms as soon as possible so your appointment time can be offered to another patient.
We kindly request at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or changes to your booking.
